What a wonderful experience!
Afifah Puspitaliza was an EEBA exchange student during the 2nd semester of the academic year 2021-2022. From Yogyakarta State University in Indonesia, she was one of the students awarded with the KUOSSPAS scholarship (“One Semester Scholarship Program for ASEAN Students”) in celebration of the 80th year of Kasetsart University for an exchange semester.
“I think everything about KU was really impressive. The programs, the buildings, the facilities and the people amazed me. I loved to visit the university to study, sometimes even just to walk around or eat lunch with my friends. It was a wonderful experience to study here for a semester!
I chose KU because this university is known as one of the best universities in Thailand. KU offered so many benefits to me as an exchange student, such as living allowances, free dormitory and facilities, and the amazing lectures. I also love Thailand because of its many beautiful places.“
“During my exchange semester, one time I could remember vividly that I found challenging and quite hard was during a class when a Thai student asked the professor a question in Thai and the professor also answered back in Thai; I was not able to understand that part. There was another similar situation when the slides of the presentation made by my fellow classmates were in Thai, however, the professor reminded them that it was an international program and all classes and materials needed to be in English. I guess, that means the most challenging part for me, in a sense was the language barrier during classes.
But overall, the professors were very detailed when they were teaching. I appreciated it a lot because it helped me understand more about the lectures.“
“I think living here was quite difficult because of the Thai alphabet and the language. I got scammed so many times when I traveled, sometimes some sellers will give us higher prices than the usual price for locals, but that’s okay because those situations challenged me to learn more conversational Thai phrases, so that next time, hopefully they would not be able to recognize me as a foreigner haha!“
“I enjoyed my time so much and I was so happy! I traveled a lot too! I went to Chiang Mai and Hua Hin which were also great experiences. If I have another chance, I will definitely come back to Thailand!
I really suggest that you join this exchange program because you will get so many benefits – the facilities and friends were wonderful! KU is really impressive! You will not regret it! Take the opportunity now!“
